Game 9 – Warrior Wishes Come True In New Orleans!

After a “good nights sleep” on the couch at Dallas Airport after making Warrior wishes come true at the cowboys game, my dad hopped on an early morning flight to New Orleans.
Upon arrival in the “Big Easy” at around 11:00 AM he reminisced about meeting Taylor Morris, one of our 2012 Super Bowl guests, at the New Orleans airport and reflected on how far our mission has come since that first season.
We have made some incredible memories in New Orleans. From the hurricanes on Bourbon street to eating Beignets at Cafe DuMonde. But our favorite memories have been making Warrior Wishes come true at the super dome!
Today my dad was honored to host a few of our friends Army SPC Charles “Cookie” Dalgo with his service dog Marshall and Army SGT Erick Scott with his service dog Gumbo.
Cookie was one of our guests in 2013. Both he & Erick made the trip from Louisiana to be captains at our 3rd annual golf outing this past August.
Although Erick was a golf captain, he had never been hosted by us at a game. Knowing how big of a Saints fan Erick is, We invited him to Be our guest us at this game!
My dad set up lunch for the Warriors at Walk Ons Sports Bar near the stadium before making Warrior Wishes come true at the Saints game! SPC Dalgo & SGT Scott arrived at Walk Ons before my Dad. They were treated to some delicious appetizers and My dad arrived about 15 minutes later to have lunch.
Walk On’s was a great sports themed bar in the heart of New Orleans. Saints Quarterback, Drew Brees, is part owner! It’s the perfect place to grab food and a drink before or after a Saints game!
After lunch they walked over by the stadium to get some pictures, did a little tailgating with our friend “Cyborg Saint” and got a few photos with the cheerleaders.
Champions Square was packed with fans ready to party! What would you expect in the city of one of the biggest parties each year- Mardi Gras.
My dad walked Cookie and Erick into the stadium before walking around the outside of the stadium to look for a cheap nosebleed seat for himself. He eventually found one and headed in to meet up with the warriors.
Both teams were in desperate need of a win. The Falcons entered the contest 1-1 and the Saints were still winless on the season. Both teams have potent offenses but very porous defenses so a high scoring game was expected. The Saints and falcons went back and forth the entire game until late in the 3rd Quarter when the Saints were marching down the field for a touchdown but Drew Brees Pass was picked off and returned for a touchdown the other way. It was the turning point, the Saints never recovered from that and fell to the Falcons 45- 32.
Despite the loss, the Warriors still had a great time & it was great to have the opportunity to host Erick & Cookie!
Operation Warrior Wishes would like to thank Walk On Sports Bar for lunch , New Era Cap for the Saints caps and Ben “CyborgSaint” Collier for helping us secure tickets and an awesome tailgate!
TOGETHER WE MAKE WARRIOR WISHES COME TRUE!
Most importantly, we would like to thank SPC Dalgo & SGT Scott for their service and sacrifices!
My dad will be flying home tomorrow afternoon to spend a few hours at home before heading out to Cincinnati to make Warrior Wishes come true Thursday Night at the Bengals game! Stay tuned for more details!
