Game 62 – Warrior Wishes Come True at Da Bears Game Again!

After an insane week last week where we hosted over 100 guests across the country in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Dallas and New Orleans…
My dad had a relatively easy schedule this week. He was home all week long and got some Christmas shopping done before the Sunday night Bears game. Thanks to our friends at Sebern Custom Homes and Grandview Homes, we have had the opportunity to make wishes come true at every Bears home game this season!
Today we had the honor of hosting Marines Antonio Fernandez, Jeff Schuman and Chris Melin in the United Club at Soldier Field.
Antonio Fernandez served in the Marine Corps from 2005-2009. He was a rifleman in the infantry and deployed to Iraq in 2007.
Marine Corporal and Purple Heart recipient Jeff Schuman is from Warrenville, IL. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2010 and served as a rifleman and with scout sniper platoon during his two deployments to Afghanistan with 3rd Battalion 7th Marines.
Jeff got out of the Marine Corps in 2014 and has since moved to Lawrence, Kansas with his wife Brigette and their one year old daughter Drew. He is a lifelong Bear fan and although, 500 miles away, that never stops him from missing any Bears game.
Jeff was nominated by his best friend and fellow Marine Corps veteran, Corporal Chris Melin. Chris, also from Warrenville, IL served as a tanker in Afghanistan with 1st Tank Battalion Delta Co.
Chris now resides in Elburn, IL with his wife Amy and newborn daughter Reagan. Chris nominated Jeff knowing he would be in town for the holidays.
When Jeff was on deployment Chris would regularly update him on Bears games. They discussed the chance to attend a Bears game together when they both were back home. Operation Warrior wishes is honored to have had the opportunity to make their wishes come true!
My dad met up with the warriors Sunday afternoon at the “Bear Army” Tailgate. Our friend Lorenzo has been helping host warriors all season long. He is an Army Veteran himself and always enjoys helping make wishes come true! We would like to thank him and Tim Shanley, owner of Da Bus, for their continued support!
At the beginning of the season this game was one of the most highly anticipated games on the schedule. The Bears and Chiefs were both expected to be Super Bowl contenders. Unfortunately the Bears did not play to their potential and fell short of making the playoffs this year.
Nonetheless, the warriors were still excited for the opportunity to see the game and expected a good game.
Unfortunately Patrick Mahomes was too much to handle and the Bears offense had trouble moving the ball. The Chiefs went on to beat the Bears 24-3.
Despite the loss, it was still a great experience for the warriors. Operation Warrior wishes would like to thank Antonio, Jeff and Chris for their service and sacrifices.
Immediately following the game my dad made his way over to the Megabus stop to catch his $1 ride to Minneapolis. He will be making wishes come true at tomorrow’s Vikings game. Stay Tuned…
