Game 27 – Our Friends In NY Make Wishes Come True At The Giants Game!

Throughout our 2017 “All32in17” mission we have proudly hosted warriors and made wishes come true at 26 NFL games!

On Thursday my dad hosted warriors in the front row at the Jets game!

He spent the next few days hanging out in New York City before making his way back to MetLife stadium to make warrior wishes come true at the Giants game for the 2nd time this season.

Since 2012, we have made some unforgettable memories making wishes come true at the Giants games. Here are some of our favorite moments!

Today we were honored to host Army Sgt Wally Musselman & Marine Sgt Carlos Suarez.  Thanks to the warriors wives, both Wally & Carlos were surprised with the opportunity to attend the Giants game. On Saturday, my dad set up a fake radio contest giving Carlos the chance to win a gift card if he could answer a 3 questions about the Giants. After getting the first 2 right, my dad threw a curveball & asked “What is the the name of the stadium of the game you are going to tomorrow ?”

Sgt Suarez was extremely surprised and grateful. When he learned he was going to the game!

My dad took a more creative approach to surprise Army Sgt Musselman. On Saturday, my dad made his way to IKEA & surprised him in the middle of the store.

Somehow Kandyce, his wife, talked her husband into driving 4 hours to look at couches at the IKEA store in New Jersey. My dad arrived early and sat in cafe waiting for them. Kandyce provided my dad with a little info about Wally & upon arrival, my dad approached him and began talking to him like he was a long lost friend.

“Wally!! How have you been? It’s been a while, I Haven’t seen you since the camping trip at Woodland Campground. How was the Penn State game?”

Obviously, Wally was confused and wondered who the heck my dad was. Eventually my dad asked him to look behind some books where he found a Giants hat that my dad had his there & my dad finally let him in on the secret.

Thanks to the Embassy Suites, Wally & his family didn’t have to drive back home before the game. They got to enjoy the night received a welcome basket from Embassy Suited when they checked into their hotel room.  My dad hung out with them & made sure they were all set for dinner before heading to the airport to spend the night.

Early Sunday morning My dad met back up with the Musselmans at their hotel and they made their way to MetLife stadium to meet up with Carlos. They all met up at Redd’s.

Redd’s has been helping make wishes come true for the past few years and always provide parking & arise to the stadium for the warriors. We cannot thank them enough for their support!

Before hopping on he shuttle to the stadium, they met up with Marine Sgt Carlos Suarez, who was still laughing about how we surprised him with that fake radio contest yesterday. His father in law was his guest & he was a big Rams fan, so he & Wally got along real well!

After the whole gang had arrived, they stopped inside to meet “Redd” the Navy veteran whom the bar is named after & they headed over to the stadium for some pregame fun!

Our friend Ed Salomeh hosted everyone at his tailgate for the 6th consecutive season. Ed & his crew have literally been making wishes come true since day 1 of our mission in 2012.  As they always do, they went above and beyond to show their appreciation to the warriors for their service and sacrifices. Ed and his crew provided delicious food, a fun atmosphere with their Giants wrapped RV & even provided gifts to the warriors.

Ed even made sure that Wally got Rams gear! That shows a lot of respect considering how big of Giants fans these guys are! The gift bags they were presented included shoes, sweatshirts & even Jerseys!

It’s an honor to call Ed & his crew friends & we couldn’t make our Giants missions so special without their support!

Considering we were hosting both a Rams & a Giants fan at the game, we knew one warrior would end up being happy with the outcome & the other, not so much…

Unfortunately for Sgt Suarez & all the NY fans, it was the Giants on the wrong side of a lopsided game. The Rams trounced the G-men and won the game 51-17!  After the game, Wally & his family got the opportunity of a lifetime & got to go on the field to take a few pictures!

Operation Warrior Wishes would like to once again thank Ed & his tailgate crew for their hospitality, their generosity & their continued support in helping us make wishes come true! We also want to thank Embassy Suites for providing accommodations for the Musselman family,  New Era for the Rams & Giants caps for the warriors & Redd’s for once again for providing parking & transportation to the stadium.

TOGETHER WE MAKE WARRIOR WISHES COME TRUE!

Most importantly, we want to thank Army Sgt Wally Musselman and Marine Sgt Carlos Suarez for their service to our country! We salute you!

Immediately following the game, my dad made his way to the airport. He will be coming home for a few hours tonight before hitting the road first thin in the morning to make wishes come true at tomorrow’s Packers game. Stay tuned for more details!

It was an honor to host these brave warriors and make their Warrior Wishes come true. If you know a deserving warrior who would love to attend a game on our “All32in17” mission please nominate them today!
